Summary:
Hiroshi Nishiura, a professor from Hokkaido University’s medical school, estimated that the number of coronavirus cases in Hokkaido may reach 940 in February which is more than 10 times of the official number. He based on the number of travelers and passenger volume to make the estimation. He guessed that most of the people may only have minor or no symptoms. A state of emergency was declared in Hokkaido. Japan’s Health Minister Katsunobu Kato said he knew the estimation and would take measures to deal with the situation. Until 3 March, 77 cases were confirmed in Hokkaido. There are 274 cases and 6 deaths in Japan, excluding 706 cases abroad Diamond Princess cruise ship stayed at Yokohama.
